Kate - September 2017

Kate is on her 5th session of Body Back and she continues to crush her goals each time! She started the program as a way to increase energy to keep up with her (then) active 3 year-old daughter and baby boy Gavin. She continues working out and attending Body Back classes to set an example for her family on how to be a good role model as a full time working mom committed to a healthy lifestyle. Kate has increased her physical fitness ability by 30%, lost 20+ pounds and has a drool-worthy-Pinterest weekday meal prep game that inspires our entire group! Outside of Body Back, she continues to push herself --- for example, as a former runner growing up, she has added runs back into her work outs and brings her A-game at class with group sprints and long jogs. Her go-to attitude and incredibly sweet nature makes her a village favorite! We are so lucky to have Kate!

Tell us about your little ones.

Gavin is 15 months. He loves to run and play with his sister. He loves all food especially broccoli bites. He went to two months of stroller strides. Paige is 3 and a half. She loves princesses and searching for dinosaurs on hikes.

What is your career?

I lead a team of software engineers. We work at a financial software company.

What are three of your favorite things (besides your family)?

Star Wars, my dog (Daisy), and hiking with my sister and anyone else who will join us.

What is your favorite beverage?

Diet Coke, but I've been drinking more and more water over diet coke.

Favorite app(s) or website(s)?

Pinterest, Facebook, and Sparkpeople aww my favorite. I love finding new recipes and exercises via Pinterest. My extended family keep in touch through Facebook, so I try to post everything there. Sparkpeople is my tracker app. I like the points that I earn and the ease of saving groups of food.

What is your favorite family activity?

Swimming together at the lake, pool, or pond.

What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?

Paige's favorite thing that I do is reading to her at night. Gavin's favorite thing is when I hold him and then flip him upside down. He giggles a lot when I do that.

What has been your proudest mommy moment so far?

I breastfed Gavin on an airplane. It was awesome. He was hungry and I had the confidence to do that.

What advice would you give a new mom?

Every friend who has become pregnant, I say the same thing. Don't judge other moms. If they decide to do cloth diapers, great. If they decide to use strollers over carriers, great. No one knows if that kid with the ice cream cone got an ice cream because they just were potty trained or if it's the only way to get through the store. Every mom is trying to do this. None of us have all the right answers for every situation.

When did you join FIT4MOM and what classes do you attend?

I joined Fit 4 Mom when Gavin was 6 weeks old and I'd been cleared for exercise. We did stroller strides for my maternity leave. Whenever I have a free day with the kids, I try to go back for a class. Paige enjoyed her time when she went and played with the other kids after class. I'm currently in Body Back. I've done 4 sessions and really like the format.

What is your favorite exercise?

I know I shouldn't, but I like burpees. Every time I do them, I can see the improvement from last time.
